Autism in the workplace

Autism In The Workplace

Autism is a condition that affects over 700,000 people, and even more undiagnosed. With roughly 1 in 100 people having it, you may know someone who is autistic; it could be a family member, a friend, a colleague, or even you. Autism in the workplace can be a valuable asset for both employers and employees.

We have always been strong supporters of autism, always supporting local charities, and we even have staff who have it. Recently, we proudly sponsored Aim Higher on the Hull 10k. Nicola Robinson ran in support of Aim Higher, a local charity with a mission to improve the lives of neurodivergent families across Hull and East Riding.

The team of 30 dedicated runners, led by Gill Jagger, Co-Founder of Aim Higher, ran to raise awareness and vital funds to continue providing much-needed help to those often overlooked by traditional services.

Nicola Robinson and Gill Jagger formed Aim Higher in 2016. They are both parents of autistic children. From their own challenging experiences navigating inadequate support systems, they were inspired to create a charity by families, for families. Aim higher have raised over £2,500 and sponsors are still ongoing.

Embracing autism in the workplace can have excellent benefits. Autistic people are often noted to have exceptional attention to detail. In addition, they can bring fresh new ideas to the table and increase everyone’s efficiency. They can often be good at concentrating too.

Liftex Success – Nationwide Lifts In The Building

This week our Managing Director, Paul Robinson, embarked on a journey to London to attend Liftex, a prestigious event for all things lifts. The Lift and Escalator Association (LEIA) runs Liftex, which is currently in its 37th year since its humble beginnings. This event happens once every three years, so we made sure not to miss it.

Lots of lift companies and suppliers visit Liftex to showcase their products and services, and we were proud to be one of them.

Our Operations manager was in attendance, as well as two of our lift engineers, we probably looked like the next upcoming boy band. We made it clear that Nationwide Lifts were in the building. Events like this are excellent in our industry and an amazing way to network and meet new people. Liftex is a success year in year out.

Throughout the event we met up with many of our friends and suppliers in our industry. It was a remarkable opportunity to look at brand new products, meet new suppliers and talk to other experts in the lift game.

At the event, we saw our good friends at Shorts Industries, in addition to seeing Robert Gerrard, and a lot of other lift companies. The event was a great success and we enjoyed our time in London. We will be sure to attend the next Liftex.

care home in stratford

Stratford Care Home Lift Refurbishment

Residents and staff at a care home now enjoy refurbished lifts. This care home is based in Stratford-upon-Avon and provides long-term residential, and respite care. Residents here enjoy social activities and comfortable rooms, as well as being close to local amenities.

The care home in Stratford-upon-Avon was subject to regular issues with their lifts. Breakdowns were frequent, and it wasn’t running as efficiently as it should have been. They are a non-contract care home, we did another lift refurbishment project for them in the Midlands, and now we did this one for them. They were not getting the level of service from their current lift provider, having constant communication problems so they asked us for help.

We wasted no time in assessing the issue. The care home in Stratford upon Avon agreed they needed a lift refurbishment as the lift was old and unreliable.

An initial concern that care home clients may have with lift work is budget as well as how long it will take. With this care home in Stratford, we managed to complete all work within a short timeframe, reducing disruption as well as saving them money.

We installed new shaft lighting, safety edges, chequer plate for car top, car lighting and Perspex for ceiling. In addition to this we also painted the motor room and lift pit. This work is to improve the efficiency, make it more unreliable and give the lift new life. After all our work on site, the lift looks and functions just like a brand-new lift.

What The Stratford Care Home Lift Looks Like After Our Work

Lift refurbishments are a cost-effective solution for old and unreliable lifts. The care home in Stratford saw benefit in investing in lift refurbishment. Ever since the work they have seen their lift work a lot better than before. If you have a lift that’s over 15 years old, then a lift refurbishment is highly recommended.

Thank you to Hydrax for parts and our engineers who did an excellent job throughout this project.

If you are experiencing issues with your lifts, this could be breakdowns or general issues, you first point of contact should be us. With us we are sure to save you money and have your lift working efficiently again.
